New bet: the bZ7 combines Huawei hardware with local signature

The joint venture between GAC and Toyota presented the bZ7, a mid-to-large-sized electric sedan, with the goal of boosting sales in the world's largest EV market.

The entry price, after limited-duration incentives, is 147,800 yuan. The launch marks the second bet led by a local engineering team, following the bZ3X.

What's new in the bZ7

  • Huawei DriveONE system, motor up to 207 kW and top speed of 180 km/h.
  • CALB Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, options of 71 kWh and 88 kWh, with ranges of 600 and 710 km, respectively.
  • Huawei HarmonySpace 5 cockpit, integrated into the Xiaomi car ecosystem.
  • Driving assistance with NOA connectivity, supported by a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and the Momenta R6 solution.

Comfort, chassis, and warranty

  • Two-chamber air suspension for better impact absorption; "zero-gravity" design seats for greater comfort.
  • Warranties: if battery degradation exceeds 10% in 2 years or 50,000 km, free replacement. Extended air suspension warranty to 10 years or 300,000 km.

Market and production

The bZ7 debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show in late 2025 and began pre-sales on March 5, 2026. The manufacturer stated it has already received over 10,000 pre-sale orders.

Units have already arrived at stores across China, with immediate delivery expected for customers.

Technological partnership and LiDAR scale

RoboSense will be responsible for supplying nearly 1 million LiDAR units over the next five years for a high-demand FAW Toyota model.

Conclusion

With the bZ7, Toyota reinforces its collaboration with Chinese technology to maintain momentum in the local market, where consumers value local hardware combined with global platforms.
