
IONIQ 9 leads sales in Korea and closes 2026 Car of the Year, boosting March discounts across the entire EV line. See the numbers and offers.
Hyundai's IONIQ 9 has become a sensation in Korea since its launch in early 2025, culminating in the 2026 Car of the Year award. In celebration, Hyundai launched new promotions for its EV lineup.
Sales in Korea in 2025
According to the Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association (KAMA), the IONIQ 9 had 8,227 units sold in 2025. In contrast, Kia's EV9 totaled 1,549 units. The IONIQ 9 also outperformed other electric vehicles from the brand in Korea, including the EV4 (8,110) and the EV5 SUV (2,193).
Market Assessment: What Pleases Customers
The range of up to 532 km, fast charging, spacious interior, and an initial price of 60 million won are points highlighted by the market. The V2L function allows the vehicle to be used as a mobile power source for camping or external devices.
Celebrating the Award with Promotions
The IONIQ 9 was awarded the triple crown Car of the Year, and in response, Hyundai announced promotions for its entire electric portfolio. The offers include:
- 1 million won discount for those who buy an IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, IONIQ 9, or Kona Electric in March.
- From March 1st to 15th, an online event with discount coupons of up to 10.4 million won.
- Those who acquire an IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, or Kona Electric through the EV Burden Down promotion receive vehicle care services and a reduced insurance deductible.
Offer in the United States
In the US, Hyundai maintains the Hyundai Getaway Sales Event until March 2nd, with discounts of up to US$ 10,000 on EVs, including IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9. There is also 0% APR financing for 72 months and additional discounts: US$ 5,000 on the IONIQ 5 and US$ 3,000 on the IONIQ 9.
