MG presents the MG4X, a compact electric SUV featuring a semi-solid-state battery of 53.95 kWh, a range of up to 530 km (CLTC), and fast charging in 21 minutes.
The first official images of the MG4X have already surfaced, showcasing the compact electric SUV from MG that emerges as a sibling to the MG4 hatchback. The model was developed to sit below the MG S5 EV, with dimensions of 4,400 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, positioning itself in the compact electric SUV segment alongside rivals like the BYD Atto 2 and Leapmotor B10.
Specifications and design
Its styling adopts a cleaner and more mature language, moving away from the Cyberster-inspired look that marked some recent MG models.
Battery technology
- 53.95 kWh capacity
- range of up to 530 km on CLTC
- charges from 30 to 80% in about 21 minutes
Interior and connectivity
MG states that the MG4X will use the latest digital architecture, developed in partnership with Oppo, featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon processors and a central infotainment screen of approximately 15.6 inches.
Production and availability
Production is expected to start in China next month. Although MG has not yet confirmed the timing for Australia, the compact SUV is widely expected to reach dealerships by the end of 2026.
The MG4X could have a starting price around US$ 35,000, which would place it below the MG S5 EV, whose entry line is listed at US$ 40,590 drive-away, and put it in competition with the BYD Atto 2 and Chery's Omoda E5.
