Polestar sells 186 vehicles in Norway in February, an 8.1% increase compared to the previous year; a 31% drop in the first two months of 2026.
Polestar, the premium brand controlled by Geely, maintains a firm presence in the Norwegian market, recording 186 vehicles sold in February, an 8.1% increase compared to the same month last year.
This gain came after January, when the market suffered a contraction and sales totaled 63 units, intensified by the end of EV incentives on December 31st.
Considering the first two months of 2026, Polestar's sales in Norway total 249 units, a 31% drop compared to the same period in 2025. The brand ranks 12th among manufacturers, with a 2.6% market share.
Market Performance and Polestar's Position
In Norway, 98.0% of new registrations in the month were for fully electric vehicles. The market is led by Tesla, with 1,210 EVs sold and a 16.6% share. Volvo ranked fourth, with 584 units and an 8.0% slice. XPeng and MG also entered the top 10, with 388 and 258 units, representing 5.2% and 3.5% of the market, respectively. XPeng originates from Guangzhou, while MG is of British origin.
Business Model and Distribution Network
Last year, Polestar began operating with a mixed model in Norway, combining its own showrooms and local dealerships. Bil i Nord acts as a regional partner, representing brands such as Volvo, MG, Ford, Subaru, Nissan, and XPeng in the North of the country. Polestar became the first authorized dealer in Tromsø, Finnsnes, Harstad, Sortland, Svolvær, Bodø, Mo i Rana, and Mosjøen since the beginning of 2025.
The brand operates five showrooms in the country, including one establishment in the northern region, in Tromsø. The portfolio available in Norway includes the Polestar 2 (sedan), Polestar 3, Polestar 4, and Polestar 5 GT. The estimated delivery time for the Polestar 2 is 5–6 months, with arrivals expected between July and August; the Polestar 3 could not be configured until Monday. At the end of last year, Polestar launched a new generation of its most expensive SUV, with priority given to the United Kingdom, its largest market.
Deliveries of the Polestar 4 are expected between August and September, and the Polestar 5 is scheduled for the summer.
Production and Outlook
In 2025, Polestar sold approximately 46,479 vehicles in Europe, according to data compiled by EV based on national registration agencies and the EU-EVs platform. Monthly registrations in Europe vary widely, reflecting manufacturing and shipping cycles, especially involving China and the USA. Dependence on Chinese production is a strategic concern given changes in trade policies. In Canada, import permits for Chinese EVs started having a 6.1% tariff, replacing the previous condition of a 100% tax in 2024. Volvo and Polestar indicated in February that they were evaluating imports from China, with no decisions announced yet. Currently, only the Polestar 7 is planned for European production.
The Polestar 2 has been produced at the Luqiao factory in Zhejiang (China) since 2020; the Polestar 3 is split between Chengdu and Volvo's plant in South Carolina, USA. Polestar recently began production of the Polestar 4 in Busan, South Korea, although most of these units are destined for North America. With the current lineup and future launches—including updated versions and the Polestar 5 GT—the company also plans production in China. The Polestar 6 is expected to be a roadster, possibly sharing a platform with the high-performance sedan, and until last year, priority was given to the Polestar 7. Polestar will partner with Volvo Cars for the Polestar 7 to be manufactured in Kosice, Slovakia, before the compact premium SUV's launch, scheduled for 2028.
