Volvo launches the refreshed EX30 with four versions, up to 590 km CLTC range, 12 standard features, and extensive warranty, starting from 159,800 yuan.
Launch of the Refreshed EX30: Attractive Starting Price and Luxury as Standard
Volvo Cars unveiled the refreshed EX30 on March 20th, positioning the model as a 100% electric compact luxury SUV. The launch brings four variants and a promotional price range between 159,800 and 219,800 yuan.
The design and powertrain remain close to the previous model, but the refreshed EX30 lowers the entry barrier by offering a robust list of standard items even on the base model.
All trims come with 12 standard luxury features, including a panoramic roof, automatically adjusting exterior mirrors, front parking sensors, electric tailgate, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats, wireless charging, Harman Kardon sound system, and Pilot Assist.
The four version trims are: RWD Plus, RWD Long Range Ultra, Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive Performance Ultra, and Cross Country Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive Performance Ultra. There are no mandatory options, ensuring that the entry-level model arrives fully equipped from the factory.
Performance, Range, and Technology
Built on a dedicated electric platform, the EX30 offers up to 590 km of range under the CLTC cycle. Fast charging is efficient, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
The chassis, calibrated by Volvo's Nordic team, uses MacPherson suspension in the front and five-link in the rear, with a turning radius of 5.4 meters, providing agility in urban environments.
On the intelligent driving front, the EX30 comes standard with lane assistance, adaptive cruise control, and Pilot Assist. The focus is on a less intrusive human-machine interaction, with an interface designed to follow user habits and increase efficiency and safety.
Market Positioning and Warranties
Targeted at young urban dwellers and small families, the refreshed EX30 adopts an "entry-level luxury" strategy to stand out in an extremely competitive segment. Compared to rivals, it excels in feature richness, brand recognition, and warranty policies.
- Three-year basic vehicle warranty
- Eight years or 160,000 km powertrain warranty
- Four years of free data for the first owner
- Three years of roadside assistance at no cost
According to Volvo, the refreshed EX30 is not just an addition to the portfolio, but a strategic move to strengthen competitiveness in the mainstream market during the electric transition. With this launch, Volvo's electric lineup in China now spans various price points, from entry-level to high-end.
Keeping an eye on the Chinese automotive ecosystem, local press highlights Volvo's move as part of a lineup expansion to cater to different consumer profiles as electrification goals advance.
