Skoda Peaq: the 7-seater electric SUV that could redefine the segment

Skoda reveals the Peaq, a seven-seater electric SUV with two batteries, a design inspired by the Vision 7S, and a range of up to 379 miles.

The global automotive market is at an inflection point: seven-seater electric SUVs are moving from niche to technological leadership instruments for ambitious brands.

The trend began to gain momentum with Kia and Hyundai, with the EV9 and Ioniq 9 setting standards. Now, Skoda is preparing to enter the game with the Peaq, a production evolution of the Vision 7S concept presented in 2022.

The full reveal is expected in 2026, signaling the brand's intention to compete at the top of the segment, where innovation, scale, and practicality intersect.

First impressions

An initial read suggests a family SUV focused on real-world usability. The Peaq prioritizes space and comfort, without giving up a technological package that keeps up with daily life.

Design, space, and technology

The Peaq appears as a larger model than the gasoline-powered Kodiaq, reinforcing Skoda's focus on spacious, all-electric family vehicles.

Among the innovations are single-pedal driving, a segmented panoramic roof, and an Android-based infotainment system with a 13.6-inch vertical screen — a change from the previous horizontal layout. The design language may signal the brand's future Modern Solid identity.

The front end, dubbed the TechDeck, integrates driver assistance sensors, while physical controls remain for key functions like climate adjustments, maintaining a balance between innovation and usability.

  • 63 kWh battery with 201 bhp motor, estimated range of 267 miles
  • 91 kWh battery with up to 295 bhp, range of about 379 miles

  • Luggage capacity: 299 liters with all seats up; 890 liters with second and third rows folded

Driving, efficiency, and outlook

Initial assessments highlight comfort and ease of use. On urban roads, the Peaq seems manageable and less bulky than some rivals in the large electric SUV category. The more powerful version delivers quick acceleration at low speeds, with suspension tuned for comfort.

Regenerative braking is introduced with the debut of one-pedal driving, still with only two adjustment levels, which might require adaptation for some drivers.

During testing, efficiency reached 3.4 miles per kWh, suggesting a real-world range exceeding 310 miles — an encouraging result compared to official estimates. A more comprehensive review is expected this year to measure performance against key competitors.

Launch, price, and availability

The estimated price is around £50,000 (approximately US$ 66,000), with sales expected by the end of 2026. The Peaq line includes the Skoda Peaq 90 model, with 90 kWh batteries, up to 295 bhp, and a range close to 379 miles.
