Volvo encerra o EX30 nos EUA: pedidos encerram em 20 de março de 2026

Volvo ends EX30 in the US: orders stop on March 20, 2026

Volvo is ending the EX30 in the US with orders stopping on 03/20/2026; production continues in other markets and the Cross Country remains available in some places.

Volvo announced the discontinuation of the EX30 in the American market, with the closing of orders scheduled for March 20, 2026. The brand's most affordable electric crossover will no longer have open slots for buyers in the United States, ending a debut that took place in mid-2025.

The EX30 was officially unveiled on June 7, 2023. Production began in the fall of that year at the Zhangjiakou factory in China and expanded to Ghent, Belgium, in April 2025.

Sales in the United States began in mid-2025, with the Cross Country version arriving in early 2026. In the last year, the EX30 saw about 5,400 units sold in the US, representing approximately 4.4% of Volvo's total sales. The brand's smallest electric model, therefore, did not achieve the desired performance.

The decision is described by the manufacturer as a direct response to market conditions and financial factors. The publication The Drive cited that all orders already placed will be honored, but production for the American market is expected to cease after the upcoming summer.

Dealerships will not accept new orders for the EX30 after March 20, 2026. Still, the EX60 and EX90 are not affected by this measure, and the EX30 will continue to be sold in some Asian and European markets. Canada and Mexico will also continue to receive the model.

EV Market in Retreat

The electric vehicle market has been facing rapid adjustments. Last week, Honda announced the cancellation of almost its entire 0 sub-brand. The Alpha 0 sub-model is expected to appear, but the Honda 0 Saloon and the Honda 0 SUV are terminated. These vehicles were to be produced at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio, the same location that would have hosted the Acura RSX EV, now discarded.

This year, Ford has already announced the removal of the F-150 Lightning from the lineup, and Nissan canceled the Ariya. Acura discontinued the ZDX, and Volkswagen paused the ID. Buzz. Kia, in turn, signaled the possible end of the Nero EV, keeping only the dedicated EV line with the EV6 and EV9 in the American market.

Experts point out that automakers are redirecting resources to models with greater sales appeal, adopting a risk management strategy to minimize financial impacts given the current EV scenario.
