Volvo expands the EX30 with entry-level version and Black Edition for 2027
Volvo is adding options for the EX30, keeping it as the brand's most affordable EV, and introducing a new entry-level version, in addition to the Black Edition, for the 2027 model year.
New entry-level EX30: power, battery, and range
The entry-level version uses a single motor with 147 hp (110 kW), a considerable difference compared to the 268 hp (200 kW) of the current Single Motor. Keeping the same 51 kWh battery, the WLTP range for the new version reaches 211 miles (339 km).
Those who want more range can opt for the larger 69 kWh battery, extending the WLTP range up to 296 miles (476 km).
Black Edition and Harvest interior
In addition to the new entry-level version, the EX30 will gain the Black Edition with a more discreet black interior, while the Harvest interior offers a warm aesthetic in light tones, inspired by Scandinavian summers.
OTA Updates: V2L and new UX
For all current owners, Volvo is releasing the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality via an OTA software update, allowing the vehicle's battery to be used as a power source for camping, work, laptops, and other devices.
A new UX will also arrive this summer via OTA, featuring easier-to-use infotainment thanks to a customizable content bar. The update will be available for new and existing EX30 drivers.
Price, availability, and European comparison
Volvo has not announced prices for the new entry-level version, but the expectation is for a start close to €30,000 (approx. US$35,500). The current EX30 Single Motor starts at €36,000–€38,000 in Europe (US$42,500–US$44,900).
As for US availability, the brand did not specify. If it arrives, the starting price could be close to US$35,000. The 2026 EX30 Single Motor starts at US$38,950 and has an EPA range of 261 miles.
