XPeng arrives in Mexico with the G6 and G9 SUVs, expanding its presence in LatAm and aiming for 20% of international revenue, with foreign profits by 2030.
XPeng, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, announced its formal entry into Mexico, scheduled for the end of March, with the presentation of two electric SUVs, the G6 and the G9, as part of a broader expansion strategy across Latin America.
Strategic Entry into Mexico
The launch will take place at an event in the country, which the company sees as a regional gateway for its operations in the region.
The goal is to increase international participation, targeting 20% of total revenue by 2026.
Focus on SUVs and International Expansion
The move comes at a time of increased competition among Chinese manufacturers and slower domestic demand, leading the company to seek opportunities in emerging Latin American markets.
According to He Xiaopeng, the brand will launch in Mexico at the end of March with the presentation of the G6 and G9 models to consolidate its presence in the region.
Mexico is seen as a strategic hub that can facilitate access to other markets in the region, strengthening XPeng's long-term international ambitions. The company aims for foreign operations to account for up to 70% of its profits by 2030.
Financial and Market Context
The global expansion strategy is supported by recent performance: XPeng registered its first quarterly profit in the fourth quarter, exceeding expectations and joining the group of so-called new forces in the Chinese automotive sector, alongside Nio, Li Auto, and Leapmotor.
The G6 and G9 models are positioned in the SUV segment, which is seeing robust demand in various markets, and the company expects to compete in this fast-growing category of electric vehicles.
