Ford Explorer EV 2026 arrives in Europe with an LFP battery, more powerful motor, improved ADAS, bidirectional charging, and the Explorer Collection edition.
Ford reveals the 2026 Explorer EV for the European market, bringing greater range, a more powerful motor, and a wave of technological novelties without abandoning the MEB platform's electric foundation.
More Range and Acceleration
The Standard Range versions will now offer greater autonomy with the new 58 kWh LFP battery, in addition to a more powerful rear motor. The WLTP range for the SR reaches 275 miles (444 km), an increase of 37 miles.
The adoption of the LFP battery reduces dependence on high-value raw materials and allows charging up to 100% without significant damage, unlike other chemistries.
The updated rear motor delivers 140 kW (188 hp) and 258 lb-ft of torque, gaining 20 hp and 30 lb-ft. 0-60 mph acceleration drops to 8 seconds, 0.7 s faster. Explorer EV models now come standard with one-pedal driving.
Intelligent Driving and Parking
- Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control adjusts speed by reading traffic signs, upcoming curves, intersections, and roundabouts, with Traffic Light Recognition to automatically brake before traffic lights.
- Reversing Assist offers automatic steering during a reverse maneuver for up to 50 meters, following the previous path backward only.
- Trained Park Assist accurately replicates previously executed parking maneuvers, storing up to five scenarios within a 50-meter range each.
- Driver State Assist monitors the driver's condition using the front camera and Lane Keep Assist; without steering input, it applies the brakes, activates alerts, and can call emergency services.
Bidirectional Charging and Infotainment
- The Explorer EV debuts bidirectional charging of up to 2.3 kW to power accessories using the vehicle's battery.
- Pro Power Onboard is located in the trunk to charge laptops and, with an optional adapter, can recharge electric bikes or outdoor equipment.
- The infotainment system now features a movable 14.6-inch screen with Android-based software, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, clearer graphics, and the ability to group apps into folders.
New Explorer Collection Edition
The Explorer Collection brings an adventure look with more standard features. Exterior in Cactus Grey, 20-inch satin black wheels, black roof, skid plates, and dedicated graphics on the doors and rear pillar.
Inside, Black Onyx trim with orange accents on the seat edges, the lower sound strip, and the seatbelts. The dashboard and center console feature a black finish with an orange speckle effect, and the seats have a 2D knit insert inspired by high-quality sportswear.
