GMC launches the Hummer EV 3X with 1,160 hp, estimated torque of 1,200 lb-ft, and features like bidirectional charging and Google Maps integration.
GMC raises the bar for electric trucks with the Hummer EV 3X, a pickup loaded with power and technological innovations. In a high-performance scenario, the model promises to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds using the Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch mode and maintain impressive power delivery, even with a weight close to 9,000 lb.
Performance and technical specifications
The Hummer EV 3X features a set of three electric motors and a total of 1,160 hp. The announced torque reaches 13,000 lb-ft, but the actual measurement is more complex: each motor delivers between 380–400 lb-ft, which would lead to a combined torque close to 1,200 lb-ft after multiplication by the transmission ratio. Even so, the result is a vehicle that dips into 0-60 in under 3 seconds, with practice confirming great aggressiveness in roll-on acceleration.
- Drivetrain: Three electric motors
- Power: 1,160 hp
- Torque (estimated): ~1,200 lb-ft
- 0-60 mph: 2.8 seconds
- Top speed: 106 mph (limited)
- Battery: 24-module configuration
Technology and trim for 2026
Among the new features, the model now offers bidirectional charging, allowing energy transfer between vehicles or to the residence, provided the infrastructure is compatible. Furthermore, the Hummer EV 3X gains new Super Cruise functions with Google Maps integration, offering hands-free driving on compatible roads and adaptive cruise control adjusted to traffic limits.
The 13.4-inch infotainment center comes with a customizable split screen and access to services such as Chrome, GameSnacks, and Prime Video. Trim options include Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse, with the Carbon Fiber Edition available for the exterior in Magnus Gray Matte and the interior in Velocity Ember.
As part of the visual and material changes, the 2026 line receives new exterior colors, including Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte, in addition to the carbon trim for the pickup and SUV.
Off-road capabilities and chassis innovations
The Hummer EV maintains strong off-road attributes: manually locking front differential, electronically locking rear differential, and suspension capable of handling challenging terrain. Four-wheel steering facilitates maneuverability on difficult trails. The new King Crab function improves the turning radius by activating the rear wheels with a much faster turn than the front ones, reducing the turning circle. GMC will make the King Crab update available via OTA to existing owners at no additional cost.
To face the heat of the competition, the 3X arrives to rival other high-performance options in the segment, such as the Rivian R1T (1,025 hp), the Hennessey Mammoth 1000TRX (1,012 hp), and even the Tesla Cybertruck Tri-Motor (835 hp), among others. Although the torque seems extraordinary, the technical reading indicates that the effective value depends on the transmission and the axle.
From the military Humvee to the world of Hummers
The trajectory of the Hummer line begins with the military 6.2-liter diesel Humvee, launched in the 80s, with about 160 hp. The civilian version arrived as the H1 in 1992, bringing more comfortable interiors and optional equipment, consolidating itself in the premium market. GM acquired the rights to the brand in 1999, contracting AM General for production. In 2002, the H2 arrived, based on GM platforms, and in 2005 the smaller H3, with V8 and later V6 engine options. The end of the traditional Hummer line was announced, but the brand returned in 2022 with 100% electric versions, paving the way for high-performance variants like the Hummer EV 3X, which now signals the growing interest in new power levels in the electric pickup segment.
In terms of historical reference, the first Humvee not only inaugurated the family but also, curiously, matched the power level mentioned for the peak torque cited in the 3X — an irony that illustrates how expectations have evolved over the decades.
Note on data: performance information is indicative and may vary depending on conditions, with official manufacturer numbers subject to adjustment.
The path to the future of electric pickups is still being built, but the Hummer EV 3X already places GMC at the forefront of the pursuit of extreme performance, connected technology, and daily usability with real utility.
