Soneil Spark presents the Mobile Charging Trailer (MCT), with 50 kWh+ battery, AC/DC, various power sources, ideal for remote locations, events, disasters, and fleets.
New mobile solution for EV charging
Soneil Spark, a division of Soneil Electronics, presents the Mobile Charging Trailer (MCT), a trailer-mounted system that stores energy and offers both AC and DC charging. The solution is fully customizable in terms of capacity, connectors, and functions.
Inside the MCT
The base unit brings 50 kWh of capacity (or more), with support for multiple power sources, including solar, wind, methane gas, and propane. Most components are manufactured in-house; batteries come from 30-year partnerships. Assembly takes place at the Brampton, Ontario headquarters, with DC components produced in China, Malaysia, and Markham.
Applications and advantages
Designed for remote locations, events, disaster response, and fleets facing high costs and long timelines for fixed infrastructure. The MCT can charge from 98% of public DC chargers in North America, serving as a temporary or transition solution for fleet pilots.
Use with fleets and deployment strategies
Leasing fleets and turnkey providers are potential customers. The trailer allows testing electric vehicles without installing permanent infrastructure, providing savings on 30–60 day pilot projects and the possibility of connecting to the existing building.
Ports, compatibility, and standards strategy
It is possible to offer NACS, CCS1/2, and CHAdeMO ports without adapters. The team also discusses scenarios where GB/T might emerge, aiming for compatibility with Chinese vehicles; the goal is to avoid standard disputes between Canada and China.
Specifications and delivery
The base trailer starts at 215 kWh, with options ranging from 50 kWh to 430 kWh. Output varies, with examples of 120 kW in the base configuration and up to 400 kW for fast operations. In microgrid systems with 1–3 trailers, it is possible to achieve up to 1.5 MW of capacity. Fast deliveries are possible for simple configurations, with lead times of days to one week; larger units may take up to 60 days.
Market and off-road applications
Customers include turnkey fleet providers and utilities in Canada. There is also interest in off-road applications, such as underground mining and use in deserts, under the slogan Energize your freedom.
Competition and long-term vision
Competitors like SparkCharge exist, but Soneil Spark emphasizes customization and continuous support to avoid dependence on proprietary equipment that may become inaccessible. The company sees the MCT as a lasting solution for electric mobility in North America.
